TOP TEN…WHAT’S IMPORTANT TO US!
10) We go outside each and every day…even when it’s really chilly. We believe that when children are
dressed appropriately with the proper fitting outdoor clothing (including scarf/proper mittens) they can have
plenty of fun, even in chilly temperatures. YES – even try to take the “little ones” outside every day and they love it a much as the older kids. (of course extreme wind chills and extreme heat are taken into consideration.)
9) One of our favorite things about family childcare is being able to extend our learning beyond our home.
Occasionally we may go on walks and even go on a visit to the Coon Rapids Dam or the local farm. In order to do this we need to stress the importance of proper footwear. Flip-flop and crocs are not the proper shoes for these outings. We ask that if your children do not wear these to care daily, a pair of tennis and socks be left for these outings.
8) We operate a group family child care home under a C-3 license, which means we generally have 12-14
children in our home. Not every parent feels comfortable with their child being in a group of this size. It’s
important to us that you are confident in us as your caregiver in providing QUALITY care for that number of
children.
7) If your child is enrolled with us, it is imperative that we know where you are at all times and that we
are able to reach you at any time in the event of an emergency. Cell phones and voicemail are not
acceptable means of communication unless they are turned on, you check them often, and they are
working properly. If you are leaving work early, at another location for the day, out of town for your job you MUST inform us.
6) We are not able to care for sick children. Please be considerate of the other children, their parents and us by keeping your ill child home. Please refer to our policy handbook for more and exclusion guidelines.
5) We are a naturally nurturing type of family. You need to know that hugging, holding, snuggling and cuddling is a part of us and the way we care for children. We believe that a nurturing caregiver is
extremely important in the emotional development and care of young children.
4) Our closing time is 5:00 p.m. Please be respectful of this time. We often have other events or
obligations that we have planned in the evenings. We ask that you inform us as soon as possible if an
issue arises with pick-up time.
3) Please be respectful of all of our parent policy handbook and your personal contract. They have been
written for a reason. This includes your contracted hours, just because our hours are 7am—5pm, you are to state your contracted hours and those are the hours that are looked at if your are “late” and if late fees may be owed.
2) Of course, we want the children to have fun, be safe, eat well, learn, and BE LOVED! In addition to all of this, we want to teach the children good social skills. We want them to be respectful, to have good manners, be polite, learn compassion for others, learn how to be a good friend, and most importantly to have a kind and loving heart. These important things will not only help your child be well prepared to
succeed in school…but will help your child succeed in LIFE! Thank you for being my partner in this.
1) Communication, understanding, honesty and TRUST are vital in any relationship…and critical in our
relationship with you. It is our desire to build and then maintain a true partnership with each of our families. Please come to us with any concerns or questions. We will do the same for you.
